In a tearful Instagram Live post, Black Lives Matter founder Patrisse Cullors described feeling threatened after conservative commentator Candace Owens arrived with a news crew outside the leader’s home in Los Angeles over the weekend.

“She was demanding that I come outside,” said Cullors as she addressed her roughly 367,000 Instagram followers.

“It’s really unacceptable, dangerous,” Cullors said. “When Candace Owens, another Black woman, who is actually working as a part of the right-wing agenda, comes outside my house with cameras.”

Owens, a conservative known for her fangirl-like obsession with former President Donald
Trump and other white conservatives and the rhetoric she often spews online and on
television, has led the charge against the Black Lives Matter movement.

Owens has seized on unsubstantiated reports by right-wing media that Cullors used
BLM money to purchase a $6 million home in California and purchased other property.

However, foundation officials and Cullors have pointed out that the California home represents a space for Black creators.

As for the other properties, Cullors has publicly stated that she purchased those from the proceeds of book sales and other personal earnings.

Owens claimed she watched Cullors live.

While claiming Cullors lied, Owens admitted to going to the home Saturday and ringing the doorbell.

“The truth shall set you free, or Candace Owens shall set you free, girl. Because I’m
about to tell the truth,” Owens remarked in her own video.

Supporters of Cullors have stated that she indeed purchased a Los Angeles home for BLM. However, the home Owens visited was Cullors’ private residence, not the property owned by the foundation.

Supporters have argued that the purported $6 million foundation home stands as an
office and community workshop, like the one in Toronto that acts as a cultural center
with offices for activists and no bedrooms.

Officials have stated that the primary purpose of purchasing the properties remains
to build equity for the movement to continue.

“It’s been a hard few weeks,” Cullors said. “I really need to be safe. I need my family to be safe. I need my child to be safe.”

Cullors described the threat to her security following Owens’ unannounced visit.

“It’s not safety. It’s not what I deserve, or any of us deserve,” she insisted.

She urged her friends and followers to remain diligent and reserve judgment.

“When you see [stuff] in the media being talked about, be diligent because they are purposely building a wedge between Black people,” Cullors said. “They know that when we are together, we are stronger. They’ve seen what we’ve done over the last decade, and they are literally trying to destroy us, destroy me, destroy the movement.

“I just us to be stronger, more diligent, and more present,” she said. “I want us to be more clear and accountable. I love ya’ll so much. Pray for my family, check on Black organizers.
This backlash is real and is impacting our personal and everyday life.”

  1. Patrisse Cullors NEED TO BE EXPOSED! She has purchased about 5 million dollars homes in white neighborhoods! Are you kidding me right now! I saw the houses you bought last year and this year ALL IN WHITE NEIGHBORHOODS! But as God is my witness you and your kingdom WILL FALL!!

    1. The reason why I see prices of men do white neighborhood is because their value is high you really don’t understand what white supremacy does white supremacy invasive where you if you go into a black neighborhood you cannot get the equity that when you get in a white neighborhood either that or you just disingenuous

  2. The only threat this liar Patrisse faced was her lies being exposed! Ha! She promoted hate and violence with her “movement” and stole millions of dollars from people. The people deserve better than this! Proud of Owens for doing great work here.

  3. Cullers is a liar and Stacey Brown needs to stop writing until she gets some facts because no one cares about her opinions.

  4. So, a fraudster cries foul over someone coming to their home while calling on their mob to harass SCOTUS at their homes. How rich, and I’m not talking about all of the money she stole from donors.

  5. Perhaps your “news” outlet should retract or re write this article since Candace owens came forward with the video of this interaction or rather lack there of… any idiot can see there was no threats no demands and absolutely no danger. She was in point of fact very polite. You should be sued for this level deception and slander.

  6. It’s sad you post stuff like this Stacy. It’s comical you call yourself a journalist but I have no capabilities of being one. I’ll give you a tip, learn the full picture before you pick a side, whether it’s left or right. Do better, plus, you should make a new post talking about the true events of what happen. Have a nice day and again, do better.

  7. The reason they buy those mansions in white neighborhoods are there no mansions in black neighborhoods that would be a good investment

  8. Did the writer of this article watch the full video? She referred to this location as a private residence. (Also she full of BS)

  9. the washington informer is an embarrassment. i wonder when this news outlet and others like it will wake up and realise the general public don’t think like this, don’t agree with this and actually find this rhetoric laughable.
