Carl Goodman Named Provost of Bowie State University

Carl Goodman has been named provost of Bowie State University.

As the chief academic officer at Maryland’s first historically Black university, Goodman will be responsible for overseeing the academic and research enterprise of the university, effective July 6.

“I am truly delighted to be a part of Bowie State University with the outstanding faculty and students,” Goodman said in a statement. “My vision is to create a learning-centered environment where students are receiving an exceptional experience.”

Goodman comes to Bowie State from Florida A&M University, where he served as associate provost for academic affairs and student services. Prior to that appointment, he had more than 20 years of teaching, research, and service in the university’s College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Goodman is a graduate of Jacksonville University, where he majored in biology and psychology. He received a doctoral degree in pharmacology/toxicology from Florida A&M.
