NEW YORK (ESPNNewYork.com)—New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony joined the NBA’s 20,000-point club on Sunday night.
Anthony knocked down a 3-pointer from the left wing with 7:41 to go in the first quarter to reach the 20,000-point threshold.
“It’s a humbling experience for me,” Anthony said after scoring 28 points, including the game-winning jumper, in the Knicks’ 96-93 win over the Charlotte Hornets. “I never thought I would be sitting here talking about me scoring 20,000 points. I used to look at when I played with [Allen Iverson] back in Denver and I’d look at him and see his stats and say, ‘Man, you got 20-something thousand points.’ I never thought I’d be here talking about me reaching that milestone. I’m definitely humbled by this experience and I got more to go.”
Anthony is the 40th player in NBA history to reach the milestone and the eighth active player to do it.
