An ensemble forecast published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicts almost 189,000 U.S. coronavirus-related deaths by Sept. 5.
The projections published Thursday forecast 188,982 deaths with a possible range of 181,375 to 201,431 casualties, CNN reported.
As of Friday, the U.S. has roughly 5.3 million coronavirus cases, including more than 167,000 deaths, according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker.
