Colin Powell Shuns Trump, Backs Biden for President

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell said he will vote in November for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden rather than incumbent Donald Trump.

“I cannot in any way support President Trump this year,” Powell, who also did not vote for the Republican president in 2016, told CNN Sunday.

Powell, a retired four-star Army general who, under Republican President George W. Bush, served as the first African American secretary of state, said Trump said “lies all the time,” has “drifted away” from the U.S. Constitution and poses a danger to American democracy.

Trump responded on Twitter by calling Powell a “real stiff.”
