On a warm August evening, the normally quiet rows of Common Good City Farm, located in LeDroit Park, became the setting for a colorful celebration of one of summerโ€™s most familiar and versatile foods โ€” the tomato.

The Tomato Party, on Aug. 13, brought Washingtonians together for an evening devoted to fresh produce, food, gardening, community and furthering Common Goodโ€™s mission of teaching people about sustainable agriculture while advocating for food justice.

An annual tradition, the party celebrates the abundance of the summer garden while reminding District residents that agriculture can exist โ€” and thrive โ€” in the middle of a major city.
