Coppin State University on Friday formally celebrated the investiture of its eighth president, Anthony L. Jenkins, capping a week of inauguration activities at the Baltimore school.

Festivities for Jenkins’ installment began Monday on the historically Black institution’s campus with “CSU All-Star Day” at the university’s track and football field.

Jenkins, who previously served as president of West Virginia State University, began his tenure at Coppin in May 2020 amid the COVID-19 shutdown.

Other events this week included “The First Lady’s Wellness Challenge” in support of awareness for domestic violence and breast cancer, followed by an afternoon tea, where first lady Toinette Jenkins and Coppin alum Erica Jones, director of infection prevention at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, discussed ways to maintain a holistically healthy lifestyle.
