A funeral service for Corey Jones, who was shot and killed on Oct. 18 by a plain clothes police officer, will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 31 at Payne Chapel A.M.E. Church, 801 9th Street in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Rev. Al Sharpton of the National Action Network and Apostle Sharon Walker of Glory International Ministries, Tallahassee, Florida, will deliver the eulogy.

Jones, 31, a public-housing inspector and part-time musician, was waiting for a tow truck about 3:15 a.m. when he was shot multiple times by Palm Beach Gardens officer Nouman Raja. According to reports, Raja, 38, who was a new hire, apparently wasn’t qualified for his undercover surveillance assignment.

The family is requesting that the media respect their privacy during this period of mourning. Payne Chapel will also stream the service live on their website, http://paynechapelamewpb.org/ where the link can be accessed on the scrolling banner.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made to the Corey Jones Memorial Fund by donating online at www.gofundme.com/justiceforcoreyjones. Check donations may be made payable to the Estate of Corey Jones to Parks & Crump, LLC, 240 N. Magnolia Drive, Tallahassee, Florida 32301.
