The number of single-day coronavirus cases in the U.S. hit a high Wednesday not seen since April, according to a new report.

The 36,000 new infections broke the single-day record of 34,203 set on April 25, according to information obtained by The Washington Post.

Florida, Texas and California reported the largest upticks with more 5,000 new cases each, The Post reported. California, Florida and Oklahoma also hit record highs in the number of infections recorded over a 24-hour span.
