D.C.’s Department of Motor Vehicles will again begin offering walk-in service starting next month.

In-person services will be open to customers on a first-come, first-served basis at Adjudication Services beginning on July 19, and at each of the DMV Service Centers on July 20, WTOP reported. DMV locations at 95 M Street SW and the Inspection Station will have special weekend hours for in-person services on June 27, July 3, July 11 and July 18.

Additionally, the M Street location will be open from 8:15 a.m.-4 p.m., and the Inspection Station from 6 a.m.- 2 p.m. on those dates.

The DMV will adhere to appointments made through July 17. Residents can still schedule appointments through July 17.

However, road tests for commercial and standard driver’s licenses will remain by appointment only.

The DMV encourages using its services without visiting an office.

“Most necessary services are available online, by mail, and through the DC DMV mobile app,” a department news release said, WTOP reported. “For example, renewals for vehicle registration are only available through those methods — they are not conducted in person.”

The department said its Document Verification Guide is available to residents to ensure they have the required documents before going to a DMV location.
