A D.C. man has a million more reasons to love 2021.
Carlos Mabry won a special Powerball drawing for $1 million just after midnight Friday during ABC’s live broadcast of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2021,” becoming the first millionaire of the year, WTOP reported.
A speechless Mabry celebrated with his family after he was selected from four other finalists randomly chosen for the contest.
“Tell me what is flowing through your body and blood right now,” Seacrest asked. After gathering himself, Mabry responded, “All glory to God!”
Mabry’s plans for his newfound wealth include donating money to his church and a local food bank, according to WJLA-TV (Channel 7).
Before the drawing, each finalist received $12,500 cash and a 70-inch LED TV, among other prizes.
