D.C. Poised for Annual Landing of Summer Spirit Festival

With a lineup for this year’s Summer Spirit Festival that includes The Roots, Erykah Badu, Nas as well as some of the best entertainers that call D.C. home – local favorites like the Backyard Band and Raheem DeVaughn – there will be “something for everyone” during the two-day musical extravaganza scheduled for Aug. 4 – 5 (Saturday and Sunday).

The promoters, CD Enterprises, Inc., had this to say: “We have 18 artists who will take to the stage for two days with a presentation unseen in this, or any other market before. It’s a homecoming, a family reunion and a way for even newcomers to witness the vibe of the metro DC area. Imagine a smorgasbord that features generic music, go-go, a touch of New York City, and a sprinkling of sounds from the South and West. It’s the kind of festival at which you’ll feel right at home, no matter where you’re from.”

Local stars Raheem DeVaughn and the lead talker for Backyard Band, Anwan Glover, AKA Big G, both say they’ll bring something special to the stage, adding that they are “super excited” about joining the other entertainers slated to appear.

Meanwhile, The Washington Informer will be on hand for both days, speaking to the crowd, taking candid photos for the archives and preparing something special for next week’s edition – even sharing some “tell-all remarks” that we’ve acquired in recent interviews with Big G and Brother Raheem. And who knows? Maybe we’ll even be able to kidnap Erykah Badu for a tête-à-tête. Stay tuned.
