The Office of the People’s Counsel for the District of Columbia announced the recent confirmation of People’s Counsel Sandra Mattavous-Frye for a fourth four-year term.

The confirmation vote by the D.C. Council was unanimously approved. Mayor Muriel Bowser renominated Mattavous-Frye.

“I am honored to be entrusted with continuing to serve utility customers in the District of Columbia as People’s Counsel,” Mattavous-Frye said. “I remain committed to OPC’s mission of advocating, educating and protecting D.C. consumers who deserve and have the right to safe affordable, reliable and equitable utility services.”

Mattavous-Frye said her work includes saving ratepayers millions of dollars, citizen access to the regulatory process, resolving thousands of consumer complaints and launching initiatives that support the District’s clean energy and climate goals.

“I thank Mayor Bowser for nominating me for another term and appreciate the council’s confidence in my leadership,” she said. “I also am grateful for the high-quality work performed by OPC staff and the support of stakeholders who partner with OPC to serve our shared constituents.”

Mattavous-Frye’s new term ends in 2028.
