Washington, D.C. – The DC Pop-Up is currently underway at the Parks at Walter Reed and Shepherd Park, featuring around 40 local entrepreneurs showcasing a variety of products, including beauty care, jewelry, apparel, and home goods. Curated by Rahma Wright, the pop-up has been operating since June and will run until the end of July 2024.

In collaboration with the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, this initiative highlights the importance of supporting small businesses within the community. Mayor Muriel Bowser emphasized the value of local enterprises, stating, “Small businesses are creating, and our DC residents are supporting them. So please, please, please look out for all of our wonderful small businesses. The electric bills don’t pay themselves.”

The Parks at Walter Reed were developed with a vision to include a local business component, reaching out to the DC Pop-Up team to bring the concept to life. The effort has proven fruitful, with the city issuing $49 million to more than 550 businesses as part of its economic development initiatives.

Wright expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We were thrilled when they approached us about doing a pop-up here.” With the event concluding at the end of July, locals are encouraged to visit and support their neighboring entrepreneurs.
