Rock the Block; Featuring Perfekt Blend

From beer garden pours, live music roars, and flavors to explore, there’s much to enjoy at Rock the Block as the D.C.-area cover band Perfect Blend, hits the stage performing all sorts of genres: Top 40 pop, R&B, soul, classic rock, Motown, country, and blues. Local directors showcase their spine-chilling 5-minute horror flicks created during the 5th cohort of D.C. Public Library’s filmmaking workshop series.
From an unexpected alien invasion, a surveillance gig gone awry, the evils of AI, genetic tampering and techno-obsession, these original dystopian shorts created by local filmmakers participating in the Spring 2026 library filmmaking workshop, will terrify, astound and entertain.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments.
The Cookout: A Celebration of Black Improv in the DMV

Now in its sixth year, “The Cookout” is WIT’s summer showcase of Black improv, featuring some of the funniest and most talented improvisers in the DMV. There are three sets of performances at 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. ( approximately 75 to 90 minutes in length.) In addition, each performance has a separate line-up, and because improv comedy is invented on the spot based on audience suggestions, no two shows are ever the same.
