Dominion Energy customers behind on their bills amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic may be eligible for debt forgiveness, the utility company said.

Customers who have accrued arrears on their accounts as of December could be forgiven for the overdue bills, Dominion said on its website.

“We know the COVID-19 pandemic has been financially challenging for many of our customers,” the company said. “If you are a Dominion Energy Virginia customer and your account has arrears greater than 30 days as of December 31, 2020, you may be eligible for arrears forgiveness. We hope that this will alleviate some of the financial burden that many have faced during this challenging time.”

The credits will be automatically applied on the June 2021 bill for eligible accounts, Richmond’s CBS News affiliate reported.
