Election Day for the U.S. presidential election is Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016

Washington, D.C.

  • Early voting is from Oct. 29-Nov. 5.
  • Absentee ballots must be received by Nov. 8.
  • On Election Day, polls are open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Anyone in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
  • The deadline to register to vote by mail or online or to update an existing registration for the Nov. 8 general election is Tuesday, Oct. 11.
  • In the District, there is same-day registration and voting.

Maryland

  • Early voting runs from Oct. 27-Nov. 3.
  • Absentee ballots must be received by Nov. 8.
  • On Election Day, polls are open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Those in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
  • The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration for the Nov. 8 general election is Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Virginia

  • Early voting runs from Oct. 27-Nov. 3.
  • Absentee ballots must be received by Nov. 8.
  • On Election Day, polls are open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Those in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
  • The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration for the Nov. 8 general election is Monday, Oct. 17.
