Facebook has committed to hiring a Black person to sit among its top decision-makers amid pressure by the Congressional Black Caucus over lack of diversity on its executive board.

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg promised to hire an African-American following a meeting Thursday with CBC members who queried her on the absence of Blacks on the 10-member board — of which just two are women.

“She said 10 to 15 times, ‘We’ve got to do better,’” said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II, a Democrat from Missouri who attended the meeting, the New York Times reported.

Rep. G.K. Butterfield who was also in attendance, said “we got a commitment today from Ms. Sandberg that an African-American will be appointed to the board of directors in the future,” The Hill reported.
