The school board in Fairfax County, Virginia, has voted to rename Robert E. Lee High School after the late civil rights leader and U.S. Rep. John Lewis, who passed away a week ago at age 80.
The board voted unanimously voted Thursday to rename the school in Springfield in time for the 2020-21 academic year.
The name change was first voted on last month after a monthlong period of public comment on possible new names, the board said Thursday in a statement.
