The family of Joe Jackson thanked fans and followers for their support after the famous musical patriarch’s death this week at age 89.
We want to thank you for all the support you have shown us as we grieve for the patriarch of our family,” the family said Thursday in a joint statement issued to Us Weekly. “We mourn the loss of our father and celebrate the life of a man who sacrificed so much to give us the life and success we have today. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this time.”
Jackson, father of 11 including music icons Janet Jackson and her late brother Michael Jackson, had reportedly suffered from pancreatic cancer.
In addition to his children and wife Katherine, 88, Jackson leaves behind several grandchildren.
Memorial service plans have yet to be announced.
