A Florida first grader has tested positive for the coronavirus after attending the first day of school.

The student tested positive after going to Pembroke Pines Charter Elementary School in Broward County on Friday, the first day for in-person instruction in the county, said Pembroke Pines spokeswoman Marianne Wohlert.

The parents notified the school of the confirmed coronavirus results, Wohlert said, CNN reported.

Wohlert said the entire school was notified of the positive test, as required by the Broward County Schools system, CNN reported.

As of Tuesday, Florida has roughly 739,000 coronavirus cases and 15,500 related deaths, according to a state health department tracker.
