Gaithersburg on Monday took the next step toward fully reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic, as mask mandates were lifted and city buildings were again made available to the public.

The Montgomery County city’s third phase of reopening also includes restoring many special services and programs, WUSA-TV (Channel 9) reported.

However, masks or face coverings are still recommended in close quarters, particularly for those who haven’t yet been vaccinated.

The resumption of services will be staggered throughout the summer as the city deals with staffing issues, WUSA reported.
