George Washington University will require all students, faculty and staff to get coronavirus vaccinations before returning to campus for the fall semester.

GW says students, staff and faculty can upload images of their paper vaccination cards into the schoolโ€™s medical portal, the university said in a statement posted on its website.

โ€œAll GW community members who come to campus are required to be vaccinated,โ€ the university said. โ€œStudents who are online-only and faculty and staff approved to work 100 percent remotely will not be required to have received the vaccine.

โ€œWe will exercise discretion in enforcing the mandate for those who have extenuating circumstances that are beyond their control and that will cause delays in vaccination,โ€ GW said.

George Washington joins two other D.C. universities โ€” Georgetown and American โ€” in requiring students to be vaccinated for the fall, though Georgetown and American havenโ€™t decided on any mandates for faculty or staff members.
