More than 150 million coronavirus cases have now been reported globally — a grim reminder of the pandemic’s worldwide destruction over the past year even as vaccination efforts bring a degree of normalcy again.
The worldwide tally currently stands at 150,699,791, with nearly 898,000 new cases reported Thursday, according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker.
As of Friday, the global death toll is approximately 3.2 million.
The U.S. leads the world in cases with more than 32.3 million and virus-related deaths with roughly 575,000, according to Johns Hopkins data.
