(HNGN) – Google is expanding its social presence by creating a new account on Facebook owned photo and video sharing Instagram.

Google is making a new push into the social media. The web giant already has its hands full with driverless cars, computer tech eyewear and more, but that hasn’t stopped the company from connecting with its fans in new ways. Google announced Monday that the company has a new official account on Facebook-owned Instagram.

Google announced its new Instagram account via Twitter, and already has more than 22,000 followers. There is no doubt that Google, which already has more than 8 million followers on Twitter, will get a large fan base heading to Instagram just to follow the search giant.

Google’s official Instagram account currently features only one video post and follows three accounts, YouTube, Google Maps and Google Glass, of course. Google’s first video post is not the emotional Google Glass ad it had released on Mother’s Day weekend or something to show off its driverless car skills. In fact, the internet search company chose wisely and decided to put a Doodle to mark its debut on the popular photo and video sharing site. Google posted a short video of Monday’s spinning Rubik’s Cube Doodle.
