Loc Lov, the award-winning D.C. hair salon specializing in natural hair care and loc artistry, will host โ€œWhen Hair Meets Fashion,โ€ a charity runway show that will bring chic, African-inspired high fashions and tribal hair artistry to the D.C. area.

The event, which takes place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Silver Spring Civic Center in Silver Spring, Md., serves to raise funds and awareness for Heart to Hand Inc., a community-based organization that provides support, education and resources to promote healthy lifestyles, decrease health disparities, and increase access to quality health care.

โ€œI wanted to create an event that invokes beauty, fashion, but most importantly, pride,โ€ Loc Lov owner Salih Watts said in a statement. โ€œWhen Hair Meets Fashion is about drawing artists together to celebrate their craft and to commemorate the rich heritage behind African inspired design and natural hair styling. Itโ€™s such an honor be able to gather some of the most talented creatives to create a night that benefits an awesome cause โ€” Heart to Hand Inc.โ€
