Officials at Hampton University in Virginia recently fired nine officers from its police department after learning they had shared “misogynistic, racist and other offensive remarks” on social media.

The historically Black, private university announced July 25 that the officers, whose identities have not been made public, were fired for “egregious violations of the university’s code of conduct.”

“After a full investigation, it was determined that the officers shared misogynistic, racist and other offensive remarks via social media,” the university said in a statement. “The university has a zero tolerance for such behavior.”
