Officials at Hampton University in Virginia recently fired nine officers from its police department after learning they had shared โ€œmisogynistic, racist and other offensive remarksโ€ on social media.

The historically Black, private university announced July 25 that the officers, whose identities have not been made public, were fired for โ€œegregious violations of the universityโ€™s code of conduct.โ€

โ€œAfter a full investigation, it was determined that the officers shared misogynistic, racist and other offensive remarks via social media,โ€ the university said in a statement. โ€œThe university has a zero tolerance for such behavior.โ€
