American families could be the benefactors of as much as $6,000 in relief checks as part of House Democrats’ $3 trillion coronavirus relief package proposal scheduled for a vote Friday.

The bill, introduced Tuesday, would constitute the largest relief aid in history as currently assembled. If passed, it will provide nearly $1 trillion in state and local government funding, additional money for coronavirus testing and hazard pay for essential employees.

GOP leaders, on the other hand, are still holding out on the new proposal, insisting they first want to see how well previous rounds of stimulus measures have played out.
