Vincent Orange Jr. is the new chief executive officer of the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan, succeeding Daffodil Baez, who became president of Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington Medical Center.
The Faculty Practice Plan is Howard University’s physician practice group, which supports the medical school and hospital with nearly 130 doctors across multiple specialties. Adventist HealthCare has overseen the practice through a management agreement since 2023.
Orange joined as chief operations officer in 2023. He focused on strengthening the practice’s infrastructure, including stabilizing staffing, implementing pre-visit planning and creating nursing leadership positions.
The practice plans to open a new access center in early 2025 to streamline patient appointments.
“I am honored to lead the Faculty Practice Plan, which serves the needs of Washington, D.C.’s community,” Orange said.
Before joining the practice, Orange was regional director for Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health, where he managed an agreement with Rutgers Medical Group. He earned master’s degrees in health services administration from George Washington University and in business from Georgetown University.
His previous leadership roles include positions at MedStar Health, GW Medical Faculty Associates, University of Virginia Health and Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Aaron Cohen, president of Adventist HealthCare Physician Enterprise, said Orange “has a strong understanding of the local health care market with deep connections in Washington, D.C.”
The Faculty Practice Plan works closely with Howard University College of Medicine and Howard University Hospital to train Black physicians while providing medical care to the community.
“A strong partnership between the Faculty Practice Plan and Howard University Hospital is key to strengthening both organizations,” Orange said. “I am excited to lead such a prestigious group in my hometown.”
