WASHINGTON, DC – (November 7, 2014): On Monday, November 10th, Industrial Bank will mark its 80th Anniversary with a celebration at the Arena Stage in Southwest DC. The purpose of the event is to thank the Bank’s many customers and employees for their support over the years and to honor its founding in 1934 by Jesse H. Mitchell. The Bank’s mission is to promote financial and economic empowerment to the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Confirmed guests for the evening’s festivities include: Washington D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, and Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III.

In an effort to continue to serve as a key catalyst delivering the capital necessary to support small business growth and development, Industrial Bank is also announcing a new Small Business Grant initiative to support existing entrepreneurial enterprises to position them for long-term success. Five grants totaling $80,000.00 will be awarded to companies meeting specific criteria, all doing business in Industrial Bank’s service area. Participating partners in this effort will include: The U.S. Black Chambers, Inc., FSC First of Prince Georges County, Operation HOPE, and the DC Chamber of Commerce.
