Jackson State U. President Resigns Amid Prostitution Scandal

The president of Jackson State University in Mississippi abruptly resigned Monday after being arrested in a prostitution sting operation.
William Bynum Jr., 57, who was arrested over the weekend along with several other people, is charged with procuring services of a prostitute, false statement of identity and simple possession of marijuana.
Bynum, appointed to Jackson State in 2017, is a former vice president for enrollment management and student services at Morehouse College.
Jackson State University, which claims the late NFL legend Walter Payton as one of its most famous alumni, is one of the largest historically Black institutions in the country and the fourth-largest university in Mississippi.
