Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris rebuked GOP lawmakers for confirming Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, vowing that Democrats “won’t forget” the power move.
“We won’t forget this,” Harris, a California senator, said Monday, moments after the conservative-leaning Barrett was officially confirmed to the high court, The Hill reported. “Today Republicans denied the will of the American people by confirming a Supreme Court justice through an illegitimate process — all in their effort to gut the Affordable Care Act and strip health care from millions with pre-existing conditions.”
Barrett, nominated by President Trump following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg last month, was confirmed Monday along a party-line vote on the Senate floor. Democrats opposed Barrett as politically beholden to Trump as well as a danger to women’s reproductive rights.
