Kamala Harris has reportedly decided to run for president.

The freshman senator, who previously said sheโ€™d ponder the decision over the holidays, is expected to formally announce her bid for the Democratic nomination on or around Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a CBS Radio News affiliate in California reported.

Harris, 54, on a brief tour to promote her new book, โ€œThe Truths We Hold: An American Journey,โ€ has been coy about whether sheโ€™ll run, but several sources with knowledge of her plans told the CBS that she will soon go public with her decision, likely during a campaign rally in Oakland.

Harris has remained as outspoken as any about President Donald Trump and his policies. As the president pushes his agenda to build a wall on Americaโ€™s southern border, Harris called it a โ€œvanity projectโ€ and scoffed at Trumpโ€™s contention of a border crisis.

โ€œItโ€™s an emergency of his own creation,โ€ she said, noting that hundreds of thousands of federal workers remained furloughed or without pay during the shutdown.

During the Congressional Black Caucus Foundationโ€™s Annual Legislative Conference in September, Harris said that America faced a โ€œcritical timeโ€ under Trumpโ€™s presidency and that the American dream sought by King was still deferred.

โ€œItโ€™s about where we came from and where weโ€™ve got to go โ€ฆ this is a pivotal moment,โ€ she said. โ€œI think we all know when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. talked about the dream, it wasnโ€™t about being asleep. It was about being awake.โ€
