Kevin Hart has had a change of heart about hosting the 2019 Oscars.
During an interview with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres released Friday, the comedian said he is again considering the job after DeGeneres told him she contacted the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on his behalf and they felt he was still the right person for the job.
Hart said he is “evaluating” his decision a month after quitting the Oscars amid a firestorm of criticism over past homophobic tweets and comments that resurfaced.
“I called the Academy because I really want you to host the Oscars,” DeGeneres told Hart. “And they were like, ‘Oh my God, we want him to host. … Whatever we can do, we’d be thrilled.’ The Academy is saying, ‘What can we do to make this happen?’”
