Gospel music artist Kirk Franklin apologizes in a video for a recording leaked online by his son of a expletive-filled argument between the two.

The daughter of renowned gospel artist Kirk Franklin defended him after her brother recorded a profane argument between father and son, saying the pair have a longstanding beef in which the son has always been disrespectful.

Kerrion Franklin leaked a portion of a recent phone call with his estranged father that quickly went viral over the weekend. The recording, which doesnโ€™t address the reason for the disagreement, captures the elder Franklin exploding in an expletive-laced rant, threatening to physically assault the son for his โ€œdisrespect.โ€

Though the gospel star subsequently apologized in an online video and admitted the relationship with his 32-year-old son is โ€œtoxic,โ€ his daughter Kennedy defends him in her own video, cryptically saying sheโ€™s ready to โ€œgo to war.โ€

โ€œI would like people to respect the fact that this is social media and that yโ€™all only see what we allow you to see. โ€ฆ Thereโ€™s always another side to the story,โ€ she said in the video. โ€œAnd Iโ€™m sorry, if somebody keeps on disrespecting me and spewing out false allegations that could ruin my reputation like that, I would cuss them the hell out, as well.

โ€œI just think that as a grown person over the age of 30, you just donโ€™t air out business, but, I mean, if you want to air out, we can air out,โ€ she said.

For his part, Kerrion explained his actions in a lengthy Instagram post accompanying the audio of the phone call.

โ€œThis is why Iโ€™m done. No father should speak to their children like this,โ€ he wrote. โ€œIf I have any issues itโ€™s because [of] this type of treatment that [I] deal with behind closed doors.

โ€œHanging up in my face, no apology, no compassion, no effort,โ€ he said. โ€œStop telling me to go home to my family I donโ€™t even know where they live. I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ll ever trust my father to be alone around him ever again. I didnโ€™t want to do this.โ€
