Actor Kristoff St. John, who starred as Neil Winters on the CBS daytime soap opera “The Young and the Restless” for nearly three decades, has died. He was 52.

St. John was found unresponsive Sunday by a friend who went to check on him at his San Fernando Valley, Calif., home.

Police and paramedics were alerted and responded to the house to find the actor dead on the scene.

The local CBS News affiliate reported that the death was characterized as possible alcohol poisoning. There was reportedly no sign of foul play.

St. John had reportedly struggled with the 2014 death of his son Julian, who died by suicide while receiving treatment at a mental health facility. St. John and ex-wife Mia St. John sued the facility and eventually settled the case, but St. John threatened to kill himself in 2017, near the anniversary of Julian’s death, and was placed on a 72-hour hold for a psychiatric evaluation, TMZ reported.
