Rest in peace to Ms. Aretha Franklin! What a life and well-deserved accolades she has earned such as the title of the โ€œQueen of Soul.โ€ She looked so beautiful on the cover of The Washington Informer and I knew your paper would honor her beautifully. Even though I grew up with Aretha, I didnโ€™t realize how many songs and hits sheโ€™s had throughout her career. Whenever I want to boost my mood, I listen to โ€œNatural Woman,โ€ my favorite Aretha song. Sleep peacefully, Queen.

New School Year Right on Time

Well, the kids are officially back in school in the District and I am happy to hear that, without a doubt. I get a bit of anxiety knowing that kids are out running around the city during the summer โ€” itโ€™s just so much they can get into. Now that school is in, I breathe a little easier, because I know structure for most of the day will be put into place. Iโ€™m praying for a safe prosperous school year for all children.
