LG Says Apple’s Most Impressive iMac Yet is Coming Out This Year

(BGR) – If you thought Apple’s iMac with Retina 5K display is an impressive computer, not to mention affordable considering what competing 4K displays/computers cost, then you might be in for a surprise. LG has apparently confirmed on its Display blog that Apple is working on an iMac model with an even higher resolution that should be unveiled later this year.

“It has become clear that Japan is planning to launch an 8K SHV test broadcast and then promptly restructure the UHD service,” the company wrote. “Apple has also announced that they will release the ‘iMac 8K’ with a super-high resolution display later this year. Korea is also preparing to offer an 8K service demonstration at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. LG Display displayed a new beacon of the 8K era by revealing their 98-inch 8K Color Prime Ultra HDTV at CES 2015.”

However, Apple is far from making any new iMac announcements, and it might be a while until an iMac refresh is released. For the time being, there’s no iMac with Retina 8K display all-in-one in the works, at least not officially.
