The Committee to Free Marilyn Mosby and H.O.M.E.S., in conjunction with the former Baltimore stateโ€™s attorneyโ€™s support team, will hold a pardon petition rally for her at the White House.

Mosby, who came to prominence following the killing of Freddie Gray and the failed prosecution of the Baltimore police officers involved, was found guilty in federal court of two counts of perjury for lying to obtain COVID-19 hardship withdrawals from her retirement account. She was separately convicted in late 2023 of two counts of mortgage fraud related to false statements on vacation home purchases.

She was sentenced in May to 12 months of home detention and two years of supervised release. Prior to and following her sentencing, followers have repeatedly called for President Biden to pardon her.

โ€œWe are appealing to United States President Joseph R. Biden for a presidential pardon for Ms. Mosby due to a series of injustices in her prosecution,โ€ the committee said in a statement announcing the noon rally. โ€œThere were significant legal and procedural discrepancies, including trial irregularities and an extensive FBI investigation focused unfairly on Mosbyโ€™s personal life. This calls for a presidential pardon underscore the broader plea for justice and equity, emphasizing the need for executive action to address a clear miscarriage of justice.โ€

The U.S. Constitution guarantees a president the power to pardon citizens convicted of federal crimes.

The request for a Mosby pardon comes on the heels of Biden on Sunday pardoning his son Hunter for federal tax and gun convictions.

The news release said, โ€œIt is in line with the administration’s commitment to upholding the principles of fairness and equal treatment under the law.โ€

โ€œMs. Mosby has been subjected to unjust and selective prosecution, and as a result, was sentenced on May 23, 2024, to three years supervised probation, which includes one year of home detention,โ€ the news release said. โ€œJoin the H.O.M.E.S. organization in rallying to show support for Ms. Mosby and add your signature to the petition to show President Biden that we, the people, demand a presidential pardon.โ€

  1. So she lied after trying to capitalize off of a pandemic (that killed millions) and then was found guilty of mortgage fraud, and Iโ€™m supposed to jump to sign a petition for her pardon becauseโ€ฆ? Not only do these people seem to think theyโ€™re above the law; they feel quite ENTITLED to be above the law.

  2. Atty. Mosby did not lie; she was misled by both the form and her ex-husband by not informing her there was a lien on their home.
She saved her city when police officers wound up with a dead man, Freddie Gray, in their vehicle. That still has not been explained. Marilyn Mosby was a real asset to her community and to Black women Prosecutors around the country. Please read http://www.justiceformarilynmosby.com to get the facts. I see you are responding from a lack of knowledge about the case.
