R&B singer and actress Mary J. Blige has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her work in the film “Mudbound.”
Blige, 46, was named Monday among contenders for best actress in a motion picture, as well for best original song for “Mighty River,” which she co-wrote.
“Mudbound,” which was released in November on Netflix, follows two neighboring families — one black, one white — at a 1940s sharecropping farm in Mississippi. Blige plays the role of Florence Jackson, a mother and sharecropper’s wife.
The movie was filmed around the time Blige announced she was divorcing her husband and former manager Kendu Isaacs.
