Maryland Adds No New COVID Deaths Monday

Maryland reported no new coronavirus-related deaths and seven fewer hospitalizations Monday, encouraging signs as the state revs up its reopening efforts and more residents are vaccinated.

The state currently has 953 hospitalizations, and its positivity rate hovers around 3.69%, well under the target rate of 5%, according to health department data.

Maryland added just 520 new cases Monday. The state’s daily total has topped 1,000 only once since April 24.

Since the onset of the pandemic last year, Maryland has reported 449,509 coronavirus cases and 8,585 virus-related deaths, according to the state health department.

As of Monday, the state has administered roughly 5 million coronavirus vaccine doses, with approximately 2.1 million residents now fully vaccinated, according to health department data.
