Maryland’s coronavirus hospitalizations and positivity rate have continued to rise.

State health department statistics show hospitalizations jumped Sunday by 67 to 1,131, with 256 people in ICU beds and 875 in acute care.

The state’s positivity rate also rose 0.08% and stands at 5.9%, above the recommended mark of 5%.

The department reported 1,669 new coronavirus cases and eight deaths Sunday.

As of Monday, the state has 418,188 cases, 8,177 virus-related deaths and 1,165 hospitalizations, according to state health department statistics.

The numbers are trending upward despite the state’s vaccination efforts continuing in earnest. Maryland has currently administered roughly 3 million vaccine doses, with more than 1.1 million residents fully vaccinated.
