Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced Wednesday that anyone who works in a hospital or nursing home in the state must prove they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus or be tested regularly.
Staffers at hospitals and nursing homes must receive their first vaccine shot by Sept. 1, the Republican governor said.
Hogan said at a news conference that the staff vaccination rates at some nursing homes are as low as 40%, which he called “unacceptable,” WRC-TV (Channel 4) reported.
Nursing homes that don’t comply or report vaccination data could face fines and civil penalties, WRC reported.
