Maryland reported 925 new coronavirus cases Tuesday, the second straight day the state had fewer than 1,000 daily cases after exceeding that mark for 13 days.

But the state death toll surpassed 8,400 with 19 reported deaths Tuesday. Hospitalizations rose again, as well, with 23 more people now under care, bringing the current total to 1,282. The state hasn’t had fewer than 1,000 hospitalizations since March 28.

Since the onset of the pandemic last year, Maryland has reported 437,584 coronavirus cases and 8,406 virus-related deaths.

As of Tuesday, the state has administered roughly 4 million coronavirus vaccine doses, with approximately 1.7 million residents now fully vaccinated in the state, according to health department data.
