Maryland’s coronavirus cases are surging, with over 1,500 new cases reported Friday, the largest one-day jump since May 19.
The Friday total is the third-highest since the coronavirus pandemic began earlier this year, Baltimore’s WJZ-TV (Channel 13) reported.
The state reported 1,541 new coronavirus cases as of Friday, bringing the total count to 151,505, with 11 more Marylanders having died, culminating in a total of 4,046.
Hospitalizations are also on the rise, with above 600 Marylanders hospitalized, the most since June, WJZ reported. Of those in hospitals, 152 are in intensive care units and 457 are in acute care.
The state’s positivity rate stands at 4.37 percent, coming a day after Gov. Larry Hogan announced seven jurisdictions are above the five percent benchmark.
