Maryland’s COVID-19 Hospitalizations Under 800 for First Time in Four Months

Coronavirus-related hospitalizations in Maryland are below 800 for the first time since last fall.

The state reported 792 hospitalizations on both Monday and Tuesday, down 26 from Sunday, with 215 in intensive care. The total number of hospitalizations hasn’t been that low since it was 761 on Nov. 10.

Maryland’s overall daily toll for coronavirus cases has also fallen markedly since peaking during the holiday season. The state reported 631 cases Tuesday, down from 3,758 just two months prior on Jan. 9.

As of Tuesday, Maryland has reported roughly 389,000 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic last year, including 7,806 related deaths.

So far, the state has administered 1.6 million doses of coronavirus vaccine, with about 745,000 people fully vaccinated.
