Masks Becoming Creative and Add Protection for All

A growing number of medical experts agree that a homemade mask, even a scarf or bandana, may provide protection from either getting or transmitting the coronavirus.

Recently, the White House and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advised all Americans to wear face coverings when leaving home and venturing out into the public. However, it remains to be seen how well homemade masks work and which ones may be better than others.

We’ve shared some of the masks that have been spotted in the greater Washington area both for your viewing pleasure and for possible ideas if you’re thinking about making your own.

One thing’s for certain: mask use and hand hygiene employed in concert are the best strategy for today — and tomorrow.
