(New York Daily News)—Five years ago today, the world seemed to stop its rotation at the news the King of Pop had died.

Thousands flocked to UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles to bid farewell to the haunted genius, watching in disbelief as a helicopter transported his lifeless body to the coroner.

Fans across the globe held vigils and tributes as Jackson’s unmistakable singing voice flooded the airwaves.
