Military Coronavirus Cases Double in Three Weeks: Report

The number of coronavirus cases among military personnel has more than doubled in the past three weeks.

Department of Defense statistics show that as of Wednesday, 6,493 service members had the coronavirus, a sharp increase from 2,807 on June 10, CNN reported.

The Air Force had 700 reported cases on June 15 but by Monday the number had increased to 1,366.

Thomas McCaffrey, assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, said the increase at military installations largely correlates with the spikes in nearby civilian “hot spots” such as Texas, Florida, Arizona and parts of California, CNN reported.
