Montgomery County will open two new vaccination centers Monday in response to what is expected to be a demand for booster shots.
Presently, shots are available at the East County Community Center, the Silver Spring Civic Building, both located in Silver Spring and the Montgomery College’s Germantown campus in Germantown.
County officials said the sites will provide first and second doses of the Moderna and the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and provide additional doses and booster shots currently recommended for certain groups and eligible residents who receive the Pfizer shot, WRC-TV (Channel 4) reported.
Here are the hours and locations of each site:
East County Recreation Center 3310 Gateshead Manor Way, Silver Spring Sunday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, noon to 6 p.m.
Silver Spring Civic Building 1 Veterans Plaza, Silver Spring Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Montgomery College – Germantown Bioscience Education Building 20200 Observation Drive, Germantown Open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The announcement of the vaccination center comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Monday that the county has crossed over the 800,000 threshold of fully vaccinated residents and 99.1% of the vaccine eligible residents — those over age 12 — have received at least one dose of the vaccine. The 99.1% rate is the highest in the country for a jurisdiction with 300,000 residents or more.
